Midsummer Blot – Summer Solstice

The longest day of the year and Balder’s sacrifice is honored as a cyclic event which corresponds with the shortening of days until the return of the sun at Winter Solstice. This is a time to honor the sacrifices of deities, powers, and spirits for the bounty and blessings of autumn. Sacrifices of the self and of deities are honored through offerings, ceremony, and sumbel.
